The MS Dream Center - RI: Where Dreams are Actualized
The MS Dream Center - RI was envisioned in the mind of a single individual diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Marie Perna of Cranston, Rhode Island. Marie and her devoted husband Don first met Joe O'Reilly in the mobility section at a basketball game. The Dream was formulated into an action plan that very night.
MS Dream Center - RI is formulating a non-profit 501 (C) (3) entity, has the cooperation of the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and has established an independent Board of Directors, as well as a fundraising and capital development campaign.
The mission of MS Dream Center - RI is to construct a Day Center in Rhode Island, and a model for the nation, where the MS-diagnosed, and their care partners, can collaborate through communication, education, workshops, treatment regimens, social interaction, physical therapy, insurance and benefits assistance and physician and nursing cooperation - to self-empower in minimizing the debilitating advancement of their neurological disease and maximizing all that life has to offer. The Center will further allow for important respite opportunities for care-partners.
We envision this development plan being followed by others across the country, who seek what we do - a place to be what we have been all our existence - fully human and fully alive.
